I spotted an old grandfather-ish clock at a local thrift store and thought it'd make a good 13 hour clock.
I removed the existing motor, and used a motor like the ones you find in those animated xmas deer. It
makes the hands move quickly. For the exterior of the clock, we tried some crackle paint to give it a weathered
look. We also replaced the pendulum with a hanging skeleton. |

We started with a flat black paint job on the clock

We got this skeleton at the dollar store, and threw a quick noose around him, so use him for our pendulum

After the black, we painted the crackle paint stuff on the surface. Once that had dried, we painted the clock blue.

The crackle paint makes the blue paint crack and split, to give it a weathered look.

We sprayed the clock with some other colors to take the edge of the blue, with grey and black spray paint.

The motor is one like you see in those animated deer at Christmas. I removed its original crank arm, put the crank shaft through the hole in the center of the clock face, then hot glued the hands to it. Then hot glued the motor to the back of the face.

We got the clock face from http://www.jacksonmanor.net. I kept the original clock hands, but attached them to the motor so they'd spin fast and backwards.

Becky carved this great spider top out of blue insulation foam. Painted it to match, and it makes a good top for the clock.

Becky also painted this from the Haunted Mansion wall paper to give the clock a little something extra. She printed off the picture, cut it out and used it as a stencil.

Here's the complete finished product. We spray painted the glass a little bit to give it a smokey or fogged look.
