Alpine Climbing

We've done quite a few of the local alpine routes around the Wasatch, and a few little alpine routes in Wyoming. But since these peaks are just little guys and most were done when I was in High School, I've just posted a few pics on this one page, rather than doing a page for each peak. Right now all these pictures are from my High School days, but this spring and summer I hope to get some more up to date pictures.

Neil on the summit of the Pfeiferhorn on a summer ascent. Utah Lake is off to the left side of the picture.

My buddy Jon and I on a winter ascent of the Pfeiferhorn. The summit is there in the background. This route is great for learning basic alpine climbing techniques with very little danger.

We spent some time on this slope practicing basic alpine climbing rope work. What's that big glob in the picture??

Jon and I heading up to the ridge on the Pfeiferhorn.

Burns on our ski trip up the Pfeiferhorn.

Neil heading up the slopes to American Fork Twin, one of the highest peaks in the Wasatch.

Me on the same trip heading up the snow field.

Jon and I coming down from the summit of the highest twin.

Neil on the summit of American Fork Twin.

Neil on the descent from Twin.

Jeff, Gutz and some other guy with Mount Baird in the background on our summer ascent up Elkhorn Peak. And no, we didn't name Mount Baird, but saw it on a topo and knew we had to climb up there! It wasn't too bad of a mountain, it's at a little over 10,000 feet.
