got a pile of these Trick or Treaters on Halloween Clearance.
They're what we used to make the elves.

sewed the heads from scratch, around the mount from the Trick
or Treaters, so it mounts on the elf's body easily.

elves after making sewing clothes, before their faces have been
added.
One
of the finished products. The ears were sewed on, and the nose
was glued with a glue gun. Cotton matting was used for the hair,
beard and eyebrows. Then some eyes from the craft store were
glued on with a glue gun.
