Bluejohn Canyon - Main Fork

Logjam

Not to be confused with John Blue Canyon in Wyoming. A great slot in the Robbers Roost area, near Goblin Valley. There's several different route options you can do in three different forks. Because of time constraints, we stuck to the main fork. The canyon starts out in a shallow slot, but then drops and narrows dramatically. To get to the bottom of the canyon, there's a handful of short drops, one after another. It was more challenging than we anticipated to get down these drops. But we enjoyed the opportunity for problem solving. And the narrows in the rest of the canyon was an awesome reward!

Blue-Bean on the same rap.

My turn down the rap.

So this is why we went through all that downclimbing!

This canyon has more than its share of huge logs and chockstones wedged in the narrow slot from flash floods.
